Texas Landscape Project: Map of the Growth of the Wind Power Industry

Wind Energy

This map shows the rapid growth of the wind industry in Texas. Texans first tapped the power of the wind for pumping water for livestock during the 1880s.

Over 100 years later, wind energy has had a great resurgence, with massive turbines generating electricity in the Panhandle, Trans Pecos, and along the coast.

Smitty Smith tells about organizing support for wind energy.
